About Polytero Oral Solution
- POLYTERO (Polyethylene Glycol 3350) is a nontoxic water-soluble polymer
- Polyethylene Glycol is a biologically inert substance and is not metabolized by the colonic bacteria
- POLYTERO increases the stool volume which triggers colon motility
- An improved propulsive colonic transportation of the softened stools and a facilitation of the defecation
- The laxative effect of POLYTERO is achieved not only by the osmotic effect but also because of Polyethylene Glycol's ability to form a unique interaction with the water molecules. This interaction alters the physical chemistry of the solution, which leads to a sequestration of more water
- When administered by mouth, POLYTERO increases the water content of the stools
- The effect of POLYTERO is dose dependent, and a higher dose of leads to watery stools
