About RIFAPOL-H Tablets

RIFAPOL-H is a prescription anti-tuberculosis medicine containing Rifapentine and Isoniazid, used for tuberculosis preventive treatment in eligible individuals.

It combines two antibiotics that act against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis (TB).

Rifapentine inhibits bacterial RNA synthesis, while Isoniazid interferes with the production of mycolic acids, which are essential components of the bacterial cell wall.

Together, these medicines help prevent latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) from progressing to active TB disease.

RIFAPOL-H may be prescribed as part of a short-course TB preventive treatment regimen under medical supervision.

Benefits and Use

Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI)

  • Helps prevent latent TB infection from progressing to active tuberculosis.
  • Targets tuberculosis bacteria through two complementary mechanisms.
  • Supports TB preventive treatment in appropriately selected individuals.

Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT)

  • Can be used as part of the three-month, once-weekly Rifapentine-Isoniazid regimen (3HP).
  • Provides a shorter treatment option compared with certain longer preventive regimens.
  • Supports treatment adherence when administered according to prescribed guidelines.

TB Prevention in High-Risk Individuals

  • May be prescribed to eligible individuals exposed to tuberculosis.
  • Supports preventive care in selected high-risk populations following medical evaluation.

Important: RIFAPOL-H is intended for preventive treatment in eligible patients. It should not be used alone to treat active tuberculosis.
